Do you want the community to know what’s great about our school and why their kids should attend HP? Have you ever had a concern or frustration about our school but didn’t know what you could do to address it or change it? Do you know how to have a voice in what’s going on at our school? Do you know how to actually make a difference in our school? The School Accountability Committee (SAC) may be the place for you!

The purpose of SAC is to inform, encourage and provide opportunities for parents, teachers, and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes.

What does that mean exactly? It means we discuss things like:

  • Budget Priorities

  • District and School Performance Frameworks

  • Helping the school with parent involvement within the school

  • Community Concerns and Opinions

  • Unified Improvement Plans (the school’s academic goals and action plans)

  • Testing

  • Calendars

  • Other items that may be impacting our school

We need parent representatives and community members that reflect our school’s values to be a part of the SAC. That means you!

Becoming a member of the SAC means:

  • Attending SAC meetings which will be held each quarter. The time and dates of the meetings will be determined at a later date.

  • Becoming informed about school programs and budgets – experts in the field may be invited to attend meetings to help educate SAC members.

  • Becoming a positive voice for our school.

We are currently assembling our SAC for the 2024-25 school year. Members of the SAC shall be appointed by the building Principal and include:  (3) parents of students enrolled in the school, (1) teacher who provides instruction at the school, the school Principal, (1) person from the community, and (1) adult member of an organization of parents, teachers, and students recognized by the school. Per policy, a person may not serve in more than one of the required membership roles on the SAC.

Members of the SAC will serve terms of one year. The SAC shall select a parent representative to serve as chair or co-chair, who shall serve terms of one year.

If you are interested in serving on the Hi-Plains School Accountability Committee, please send a letter of interest to Giget Brubacher, Superintendent of Schools, via email at gigetb@hp-patriots.com by September 26, 2024. Please highlight which position you are interested in and why you would make an effective SAC member. Candidates will be notified by October 2, 2024 if they have been selected to serve. The first SAC meeting will be on October 8, 2024 at 5:30pm in the school cafeteria.

We look forward to working with you as a valued member of Team Hi-Plains. Go Patriots!!
