On November 5, 2024, several Hi-Plains students attended a special event at Morgan Community College's Burlington campus. The event featured various activities, including soldering bracelets, virtual reality experiences, and a career scavenger hunt focused on STEM careers. Participants learned about the Health Science field from two nurse practitioners, covering topics like the effects of vaping.
Speaker, Laine Ridder, shared her career journey from a Parts and Service position to Dealer Principal at Vince's GM Center. Ridder highlighted the following:
Everyone's road trip is going to look different.
It's important to look in your rear view mirror to know where you have been, but keep your eyes on the road.
Your brand is your personal reputation, build it the right way now.
It's ok to reroute as many times as you need.
Be kind. Everyone is trying to get to their destination.
LeAnn Tanner was recognized as the winner of the Girl Talk essay contest for her essay featuring Ms. Giget Brubacher, Hi-Plains Superintendent. The essay highlighted Ms. Brubacher's path to success. As the winning writer, LeAnn received a new computer and Ms. Brubacher will be featured at next year's Girls Only MCC event. Congratulations to you both!
